The YouTube Worldwide Premier of the “Hechicera” performance video will celebrate this Historic Live Conversation
TODAY, Tuesday, June 23rd, Carlos Vives’ latest album “Cumbiana” continues to spark a unique, cultural conversation by bringing together some of the album’s featured artists in a series of live “in conversation” events, where they can address music as well as some of today’s most important issues. The iconic Colombian singer-songwriter joins Colombian-Canadian artist Jessie Reyez, in a global conversation via Instagram to discuss diversity and inclusion, as well as share anecdotes about their recent collaboration on “HECHICERA”, featured in Vives’ recent album “Cumbiana”.
“HECHICERA” was inspired by a powerful woman. “She is a mysterious woman, with a deep glance, she is magical and wise. She always reminds me of Bachué, the goddess who emerges from the water. This woman’s spirit comes to life with Jessie Reyes, as an ‘hechicera’. The performance video will be released after the live conversation,” explained Carlos Vives about the song.
Last year, Jessie Reyez received a Grammy nomination as “Best Urban Contemporary Album” thanks to her second EP ‘Being Human in Public’. Reyez, whose parents are originally from Cali, Colombia, has collaborated with re-known artists such as Eminem, Daniel Caesar, Sam Smith, Lewis Capaldi, Karol G, and as if it were not enough, holds credits as composer of Dua Lipa and Calvin Harris’ global hit “One Kiss”. Last friday, Reyes released her animated video “Intruders”, the video shows colonization effects and today’s society status, caused by governmental institutions and economies that were built on oppression and theft.
The live conversation session will be hosted through Carlos Vives’ official Instagram account. Each artist will join from their home in Bogota, Colombia, and Toronto, Canada, respectively.
The live chat will begin at 9:00 p.m. (EST), followed by the worldwide video premier of “HECHICERA” on Vives’ YouTube channel at 9:30 pm (EST).
