After kicking off 2021 with his first official single “Feeling”, one of the most prominent Latin urban artists of his new generation, Dalex, released today his new single & video “XLEY”, featuring one of his biggest musical influences, R&B superstar Trey Songz. Released under the RichMusic label, the single is now available on all digital music platforms and its video on the artist’s official YouTube channel.
Produced by Latin GRAMMY® and Billboard Music Award nominee, Dimelo Flow, along with the renown general market producer, Cool & Dre, and Slow Mike, the song was written by Dalex, Trey Songz, Dimelo Flow, Marcello Antonio Valenzano “Cool”, Andre Christopher Lyon “Dre”, Slow Mike, among other writers.
«XLEY» is an urban track that celebrates R&B rhythms, and tells the story of «who you want to spend the rest of your life with, whether you fall in love on Instagram or in person,» Dalex said about his new single. He also added that, “collaborating with my idol Trey Songz, who has been a huge influence on his music career, is a dream come true.”
The music video, produced by Wildhouse Pictures, was filmed in Miami, Florida. In the video, Dalex advocates diversity and inclusion through lyrics. Between four walls and a minimalist scenography, the video presents a non-binary couple (who do not identify with the feminine or masculine gender, nor ‘gay’) who are going through difficulties of living a lifestyle different from the social norm. With dramatic transitions of lights that accompany the couple throughout the video, they reappear accepting and fighting for their love, leaving behind the difficulties that ‘non-traditional’ couples go through in society, showing that only love matters.
Earlier this year, Dalex collaborated on several tracks, including «Hickey» alongside Dímelo Flow, Justin Quiles and iZaak, and his own track “Jockey” alongside Lenny Tavarez. Most recently, he released the first official single of his upcoming album, “Feeling”, a track that fuses Gospel with his signature R&B influence.
Dalex is currently working on putting the final touches on his sophomore album, which is set to drop Summer 2021. Last year, Dalex placed three singles on Billboard’s year-end charts, plus his song «+ Linda» made it to the Top 30 on Billboard’s Latin Rhythm Airplay chart. Dalex has more than 2.7 billion views, more than 5 million subscribers on YouTube and 14 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
